This year's opening night featured a packed house, opening remarks from our Mayor Colleen Mahr and two fabulous performers Kathy Moser and Tom Bowes. Susan Graham headed a great group of volunteers as the master of ceremonies.

Kathy charmed the audience with her wonderful story telling and socially conscious message along with an energetic performance and wonderful guitar playing. She sang mostly her own music, involving the audience in one of her songs, and leaving all in attendance entertained and uplifted. The highlight of her set occurred when she requested Tom Bowes sit in with her for some impromptu vocal trombone solo work. Tom delivered in a big way and the crowd responded in kind. Kathy's virtual horn section blew the roof off the old carriage house!

After a 15 minute coffee/tea and homemade Graham family cookie eating fest, Tom Bowes took the stage and dazzled everyone with his extraordinary vocal style and powerfully emotional song writing skill. Tom Bowes was the lead singer of the legendary Tower of Power for many years, He also fronted Funk Filharmonic. Although he made mention of the fact that he was used to having an entire horn section behind him when he performed, he was quite at ease by himself on the stage, delivering a wide range of emotion and style. Tom's soaring vocals and insightfull lyrics left all who attended wanting more. It was a great opening night to a new season. We look forward to seeing everyone on May 8th when Arlan Feiles and Ron Renninger will take the stage.
