Performance Series Recruiting
The Fanwood Arts Council is looking for artists to perform in "The Fanwood Cultural Arts
Performance Series". We are using a "transparent booking" method. That is, we've laid out below exactly what
you need to know to get booked in our series. After you've sent us your information, we'll (1) confirm that
we've received it; and (2) give you a quick and unequivocal answer when you follow up with us.
If you are interested in performing please forward your contact information and press kit or link to a myspace
or other website containing bio information and musical demos, to:
recruit@fanwoodperformanceseries.org.
What Type of performers Do You Book?
We lean toward (1) singer/songwriters (Arlon Bennet, Roia Rafieyan) and (2) Small groups (Reckon So, Booglerizers, etc.).
We very rarely book cover bands, hard rock, or pop performers. It is requested that the performances be primarily
acoustic in nature. Look at our list of past performers as a guide.
Sounds Like A Fit. What Do I Do Next?
Please send us a link to your web site, face book page, or mySpace page at recruit@fanwoodperformanceseries.org.
Please provide examples of your music and list of your latest shows. We are happy to rely on your Web page for reviews, lists of places played, pictures, etc...
How Will I Know Where Things Stand?
We will send you an email confirming that we've received your materials. Chances are,
you won't hear anything more from us until we want to set a date (which may be many months later). So,
don't be a stranger. Email as many times as you like, asking whether you're on the "to-book" list
and whether there are any opportunities coming up. You'll get an unequivocal, straight answer. Of course,
follow-up is not a requirement: even if we don't hear from you, if there's a fit you'll still be on the
list for a future booking.
What Is The Timing On Your Booking Process?
We book roughly 3-6 months in advance. We book for spring and fall, although there are two most-active
booking periods: March/April for booking the following fall, and August/September for booking the following spring.
What Do You Pay Performers?
Our performers receive a guarantee plus a percentage of the gross ticket sales after a "split point" to
cover our basic expenses. The house percentage of charitable contributions will be used
to fund enhancements, restoration and upkeep of the Carriage House and ongoing promotion of the series and supplement our
ability to compensate performers as the series progresses. We also provide space for CD and merchandise sales without fee.
Artists play one fourty five-minute set, and we have a fifteen minute intermissions where refreshments are sold.
What Else Do I Need To Know?
The shows take place in the beautiful and historic carraige house which was the barn for the old homestead hotel.
The intimate space seats 75, The stage will comfortably support up to 6 performers so we request that you try to keep at or below that number.
A proffessional sound system with microphones, instrument jacks, and monitors will be provided.
